NOW ON its fourth year, the Varsitarian’s Cinevita film fest reaffirmed its advocacy of using film as a tool for meaningful expressions of life through the screening of internationally acclaimed independent films Lola and Kinatay.

Both directed by UST advertising arts alumnus Brillante Mendoza, winner of the Best Director award in the 62nd Cannes Film Festival last May, Kinatay and Lola were shown at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex Auditorium last March 4. The event was a collaboration between the Varsitarian and Thomasian Cable TV. read more »

The Varsitarian, the official student publication of the University of Santo Tomas, with 8 Glasses Productions, will be holding the first UST CineVita Film Making Workshop on April 17-18 and 24-25.

The workshop is part of the 2009 CineVita program of the Varsitarian that opened last month with the Tribute to the Cinema of Brillante Mendoza festival at UST, in which the Cannes entry, "Serbis: The Director's Cut," was shown to great acclaim. read more »

CELEBRATING life, truth, and faith, The Varsitarian, the 80-year-old student publication of the University of Santo Tomas, will be holding Cinevita 2008 Film Festival on March 5 to 7, 2008 at the Thomas Aquinas Research Center, UST, España, Manila.

Now on its second year, the film festival, which took its name from the word “cinema” and “vita” (life) upholds cinema as a tool for meaningful expressions of life.  read more »
