The Varsitarian

The Varsitarian, the official student publication of the University of Santo Tomas, with 8 Glasses Productions, will be holding the first UST CineVita Film Making Workshop on April 17-18 and 24-25.

The workshop is part of the 2009 CineVita program of the Varsitarian that opened last month with the Tribute to the Cinema of Brillante Mendoza festival at UST, in which the Cannes entry, "Serbis: The Director's Cut," was shown to great acclaim.

The workshop will be facilitated by award-winning director Jim Libiran, a UST Sociology alumnus and the director of "Tribu," 2007 Cinemalaya Best Picture and 2008 Best Youth Film of the Paris Cinematheque.

The workshop is open to all bona fide Thomasians and college students of Dominican institutions like Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Angelicum College. Pass a short or full-length film CD that will be screened by Libiran himself.

Films that are either recently done or have been entered in film competitions or workshops are accepted. A maximum of 12 participants will be granted scholarships by the Varsitarian to join the workshop. If a group of people is involved in the making of the film, only the director and/or the writer may join the workshop.

In a brown envelope containing the CD, include resumé, filled-up registration form, and filmography or script. Submit to the Varsitarian office, Room 105 Tan Yan Kee Student Center, UST, España, Manila.
