September 2, 9:12 p.m. - THE GROWLING Tigers succumbed to De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers, 69-78, at the Araneta Coliseum today.
Deprived of at least a single three-point field goal in the first half, the UST squad had difficulties inching closer to the Archers in the entire match.
Carmelo Afuang, Jeric Teng, and Clark Bautista flared up the Tigers’ offense with their attempts inside the paint, with Teng drilling the first trey for UST in the third period, 32-36.
However, Maui Villanueva and Joseph Marata capitalized on DLSU’s lead with their drives to the post, taking the win at 69-78.
The loss brought the Tigers out of contention in the Final Four race. Angelo Nonato P. Cabrera
