Tigers succumb to Falcons

July 25, 9:10 p.m.-SHOOTING 16-out-of-29 from beyond-the-arc, tying with the all-time record of the most three-point shots in a single game, was not enough for the UST Growling Tigers to contain the Adamson University Soaring Falcons in their 71-75 nail-biter match on Sunday, July 25, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Sophomore Jeric Teng and ace point guard Jeric Fortuna led the scoring cudgels for the Tigers, converting seven and five rainbow connections, respectively.

UST started to lead only towards the end of the third canto after Adamson dominated the first half.

The black-gold-white dribblers gained momentum at the four-minute mark with a jumper from Teng, 41-46.

Back-to-back triples from Fortuna and Clark Bautista iced the third quarter at 53-52.

However, Adamson maintained composure and took the driver’s seat in the fourth quarter after Lester Alvarez pulled his team away from a deadlock, 65-67, with less than two minutes remaining.

UST tried to regain the lead but two charity shots from Falcon Jerick Cañada in the final seconds of the match pinned the Tigers, 71-75. Frauleine Michelle S. Villanueva

correction

it should be "to carry the scoring cudgels" not to lead the scoring cudgels", tnx

i think it was Melo Afuang's

i think it was Melo Afuang's fault. the time ust gets back into the game, Afuang tends to commit fouls which allows the other team to have free throw shots. as far as i could remember, he had three fouls at the later part of the second half,
