Cubs end two-game losing skid

BassigJuly 20, 6 p.m. - RETALIATING from two consecutive losses, the UST Tiger Cubs clinched their first victory against De La Salle Santiago-Zobel Junior Archers, 59-47, at the Arena in San Juan Tuesday.

The Cubs engaged in a scoring barrage in the third quarter en route to a pulsating 27-point lead, 50-23, courtesy of rookie hotshot EJ Corre who scored eight points in the third quarter alone, to end the quarter at 50-25.

Glen Capacio and Gabriel Reyes combined for 29 points to help De La Salle recover but the Tiger Cubs never looked back as they maintained their double-digit lead until the final buzzer. Corre struck the final blow on the Junior Archers with a ferocious lay-up finisher via in-bound play in the last 35 seconds of the game that sealed the win for UST, 59-47.
